Mirrors and oversized red map-pins have been carefully located on the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s grounds, in The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park: 100 Acres, and along the White River from Butler University to the White River State Park downtown. To see an interactive map of the sites click here.
At each physical site, the mirror markers will direct your gaze to nearby red map pins that point out key aspects of the water system—such as wetlands, floodplains, combined sewer outfalls and more. Standing in front of the mirror marker, shift your gaze until the red mark on the mirror lines up with the red pin in the landscape. You will see the water element, its name, and your own reflection in the scene.
Dial up the guide-by-cell service (317-755-4093) to hear a detailed description for each of the water elements.
